Session Description: Social Media is revolutionizing our world, both figuratively, as shown by Facebook’s ubiquitous-ness, and literally, as shown by social media’s role in the Arab Spring uprisings. The transport sector is no exception. This session describes how social media is being used to intelligence to transport systems and ideas for improving the integration of social media into transport systems will be presented. Session topics include: crowdsourcing, education, real-time reporting, online games and public participation, as well as problems such as the digital divide and security.
